Mel brings over 25 years of financial expertise — from her early career at KPMG to running her own successful accountancy practice for 13 years, and 5 years working for leading accountancy software providers. She has a deep understanding of tech stacks and is passionate about shifting accounting from routine compliance to dynamic, client-focused advisory.

Simon is a seasoned Chief Financial Officer and strategic adviser with over 20 years of experience gained at Group Board level across a diverse range of UK businesses. His career spans financial leadership in professional services, B2B, events, recruitment and technology sectors — giving him a rare breadth of commercial perspective that he brings directly to Balancing clients.

Simon has a strong track record in reviewing acquisition targets, leading due diligence processes, and steering post-acquisition integrations. He has played a key role in the successful exit of many owner-managed businesses over the last decade — advising founders through everything from initial exit readiness assessment through to deal completion. His expertise in investor-ready financial reporting, valuation preparation and board-level communication makes him an invaluable partner for any SME with growth or exit ambitions.
